Li Defa, male, born in December 1953, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, dean of the College of Animal Science and Technology of China Agricultural University, is the chief scientist of the National Major Basic Research Program (973), and the academic leader of the national key discipline animal nutrition and feed science. He is currently the chief scientist of the company's research and development team.
In September 1989, he received a doctorate in animal nutrition and feed processing from the University of Kansas State. In December 1993, he became a professor at China Agricultural University and served as the vice president of the College of Animal Science and Technology. From 1985 to 2003, he was the editor-in-chief of China Animal Husbandry, a member of the American Society of Animal Husbandry, a consultant to the World Bank Agricultural Experts, a consultant to the Canadian International Development Agency, a technical consultant to the Thai Zhengda Group, a member of the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Chinese Society of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. The director of the Animal Nutrition Branch, the expert consultant of the Beijing Municipal People's Government, and the Hunan Zhenghong Group and other group technical consultants. From 1989 to 2003, he won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize of China University Science and Technology Award, the national candidate of 100 million talent project, the American Feed Association Year Award, the Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the third prize. The “August 5th” National Science and Technology Research Individual Recognition Award, the National Outstanding Talent Fund (Prime Minister Fund), and the China Outstanding Postdoctoral Award. Since 2004, he has served as Dean of the College of Animal Science and Technology of China Agricultural University. He is the chief scientist of the National Basic Research Program 973 Project. He presided over the 973 project “Nutrient Metabolism and Regulation Mechanism for the Formation of Meat Quality Traits in Livestock and Poultry” and “Pig Muscle Development and Intramuscular More than 200 major research topics, such as the mechanism of fat deposition and nutritional regulation, published more than 200 papers, including the first or correspondent author SCI paper 97, and published six. In 2008, he was awarded the title of Beijing Shide Model and was elected as the vice chairman of the World Animal Production Society. In 2010, he was the editor-in-chief of the first English publication “J Anim Sci Biotechnol”.
